Pickup is an AI receptionist that answers your phone when you can't. It captures the caller's details, texts you the moment they hang up, and never lets a customer go to voicemail.
Most sole traders miss a sizeable chunk of inbound calls — under a sink, on a roof, on the M25. Customers almost never leave a voicemail; they just ring the next plumber. Tell us your numbers and see what that's actually costing you.
All figures are illustrative — your actual conversion rate, job value, and missed-call count will vary. Slide the numbers to whatever feels true for you.
You're under a sink, up a ladder, or on the M25. After about 15–20 seconds (or however many seconds you set — it's customisable from 5 up to 30), your handset quietly forwards the call to Pickup. One-time setup with a single dial-code on your phone — no app, no new number.
A natural British voice greets the caller, captures their name, postcode, problem, urgency and phone number. Reads the postcode and number back digit-by-digit so they're never wrong. Refuses to quote prices. Knows when to escalate to 999 for a gas leak. Tells the caller you'll ring them back personally within the hour.
The moment the caller hangs up, Pickup fires off a text via SMS and an email with the full transcript — name, number, postcode, problem, urgency. You ring them back when you're free. No calendar reading, no slot offered, no double-bookings — because nothing gets booked without you.
The tone we're aiming for: warm, brisk, British. Not the drone of a robocall. Like a really good office assistant who's heard it all.
Live transcript of an inbound voice call to Pickup. Customer details changed; the conversation itself is unedited.
4 calls have come through today. 3 leads to ring back. 1 declined.
A natural British voice. Customers won't know it's AI — and we can clone yours so it sounds like the person on the van.
Tuned per trade — plumber, electrician, locksmith, decorator. Asks the right follow-ups, flags real emergencies.
The moment a customer hangs up, you get a text and an email with their name, number, postcode and what they need. Ring them back when you're free.
Every call, transcript, recording and outcome in one place. Open it once a day — that's it.
Knows a BS1 5XJ from a B15 XJ. Reads addresses back letter by letter, NATO-alphabet style.
Won't quote prices. Won't promise work without you. Tells gas-leak callers to ring 999. Protects your reputation.

Deliberately not. Pickup doesn't touch your calendar — it captures the lead (name, postcode, problem, urgency, phone number) and sends you a text and an email the moment the caller hangs up. You ring the customer back when you're free and book the job into your own diary the way you always have. Every lead also shows in your dashboard at pickup.business/app as a running log, so nothing slips through the cracks.
Most won't. Pickup uses a natural British voice and has a tight, conversational script. We tell callers it's an assistant — we don't pretend to be you. Customers care that the call gets handled, not who handled it.
No. Pickup uses your existing mobile. You enable a single 'forward if no answer' setting on your handset (one short code, takes 30 seconds), and missed calls go to Pickup. You still answer calls when you can.
About 15–20 seconds by default (roughly 4–5 rings) — long enough for you to grab the phone if you're free, short enough that the caller doesn't hang up. You can customise it though: a longer dial code lets you pick any of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds. Up a ladder a lot? Try 25 or 30. Always too busy to answer anyway? Drop it to 5 so the AI picks up almost immediately. Full instructions are in your setup guide once you sign up.
Pickup is hard-wired to escalate rather than guess. It never quotes prices. It never confirms same-day work without you. It tells gas-leak callers to ring 999. And every call is recorded and transcribed — you'll see exactly what was said.
Pickup is trade-tuned. We have prompt templates for the main UK trades — plumbing, electrical, gas, decorating, locksmiths, mobile mechanics, and more. We adjust the script to your trade during onboarding.
About five minutes, all self-serve. After you sign up, you dial one short code on your phone (**61*[your-pickup-number]#) to forward unanswered calls to Pickup. That's it. No calendar to connect, no app to install, no video call to schedule.
One click. No contract, no notice period, no exit fees. We earn the £99 every month or we don't deserve it.
14 days free. Live in about five minutes — all self-serve, no setup call to schedule. If you don't catch one extra job in the first month, you don't pay.
