Pickup
Terms

The agreement between you and Pickup.

Last updated: May 2026.

The short version

Pickup is an AI receptionist for UK tradespeople. £99/month. 14-day free trial. Cancel any time, one click, no exit fees. We do our best to handle every call properly, but the AI isn't perfect — you stay responsible for your business. By signing up you agree to what's on this page. The full version, in plain English, is below.

Who we are

Pickup is operated by Ralf Jungling, a sole trader trading as Pickup, based in the United Kingdom. References to “we”, “us”, and “Pickup” in these terms mean that sole trader business.

You can reach us at hello@pickup.business.

What Pickup is

Pickup answers calls to your business phone number when you don't pick up. The AI captures the caller's name, postcode, problem, urgency and phone number, tells them you'll ring back, and the moment the call ends we send you a text and an email with the lead. You see every call on your dashboard, with the full transcript and recording. Pickup does not read or write your calendar and does not book appointments on your behalf — you ring the customer back and book the job into your own diary.

Pickup is provided “as-is”. We'll keep improving it. We don't guarantee specific outcomes (number of leads, conversion rate, AI accuracy).

Your account

To use Pickup you need an account, created via pickup.business. Keep your password safe and don't share it. You're responsible for everything that happens via your account.

The details you give us at signup (business name, trade, service-area postcodes) directly shape how the AI behaves on your calls. If you give it wrong info — wrong service areas, wrong trade — the AI will follow what you told it. Garbage in, garbage out.

You must be 18 or older to enter into this agreement on your own behalf, or have the agreement entered into by an adult acting on your behalf if you're younger.

Subscription, free trial, and billing

  • ·Pickup costs £99 per month, billed in advance via Stripe.
  • ·New signups get a 14-day free trial — no card charged for the first 14 days.
  • ·After the trial, your subscription automatically renews each month and your card is charged £99.
  • ·VAT is not currently charged (sole trader below the VAT threshold). If that changes we'll update prices with at least 30 days' notice.
  • ·You can update payment details at any time via the Stripe Customer Portal from your dashboard.

Cancellation

You can cancel any time, one-click, from the Stripe Customer Portal in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you'll keep access until then. We don't pro-rate refunds for partial months.

If you cancel during your 14-day free trial, you're never charged.

Refunds

We don't generally refund partial months — cancel before the next renewal date and you stop being charged from then on. If something seriously goes wrong on our end (extended outage, billing error, undelivered service) email us and we'll sort it out case-by-case.

Pickup is sold business-to-business — consumer cooling-off rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations don't apply to purchases for use in your trade or profession.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Pickup to:

  • ·Harass, defraud, or mislead callers.
  • ·Run illegal activity of any kind.
  • ·Send spam or unsolicited marketing.
  • ·Resell, sub-license, or rebrand the service as your own.
  • ·Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to access the underlying systems.
  • ·Anything that would breach UK law or another person's rights.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section. Where reasonable we'll flag the issue and give you a chance to fix it first.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but we don't promise 100%. Pickup depends on third-party services (Vapi for telephony, Stripe for billing, your mobile network for call forwarding) — when any of those have outages, Pickup may be affected. We'll be honest about what's happening when it does.

We may need to take the service offline for maintenance from time to time. We'll give notice where practical.

The AI's limitations — read this

Pickup is powered by AI. AI is good, but it isn't perfect. The system will occasionally:

  • ·Mis-hear a postcode, name, or street
  • ·Misjudge urgency
  • ·Struggle with strong accents or background noise
  • ·Decline a call it should have taken (e.g. service-area edge cases)
  • ·Take a call it should have declined
  • ·Miss a nuance of what the caller actually needed

You stay responsible for your business. Review the call log regularly. If a lead looks wrong, ring the customer back and sort it out. Pickup is a tool to catch missed calls — not a replacement for your professional judgment.

Safety: 999, gas leaks, and emergencies

This section is important. The AI is hard-wired to recognise certain emergency keywords (smelling gas, suspected gas leak, carbon monoxide alarm) and instruct the caller to ring 999 or the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. It does this on a best-effort basis.

We cannot and do not guarantee the AI will correctly identify every emergency situation, every time. AI may fail to recognise an emergency described in unusual language, may be unable to hear a caller in distress, or may misclassify an urgent situation as routine.

You agree that: you are responsible for reviewing your call log regularly, following up urgent or emergency situations described in transcripts, and reaching out to customers where the AI's handling was inadequate. Pickup is not liable for any loss, injury, or harm arising from an AI misclassification or mishandling of an emergency, urgent, or safety-critical call.

Call recording

Every call Pickup answers is recorded and transcribed for your benefit — so you can review what was said, resolve disputes, and improve your service. Under UK law you can record calls to your own business line for legitimate business purposes without explicit caller consent.

If a caller asks whether they're being recorded, the AI will tell them honestly. If you'd like a different disclosure script, or to opt out of recording, contact us.

You are responsible for any additional notification requirements that may apply to your specific industry or circumstances.

Your data and content

You own your data — call recordings, transcripts, customer details, leads. We host it for you. You can export it at any time by emailing us. Cancelling your subscription deletes all your data within 30 days (see the Privacy Policy).

You grant us a limited licence to process your data solely to provide the service to you — operate the AI, show you the dashboard, send you emails. We don't train AI models on your calls. We don't share or sell your data. The Privacy Policy has the detail.

Our liability

We're a small business. We'll do our best, but there's a limit to what we can stand behind:

  • ·Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Pickup is capped at the fees you've paid us in the six months immediately before the claim.
  • ·We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses — lost profits, lost business, reputational damage, or loss of opportunity.
  • ·We're not liable for losses caused by you, by your customers, by third-party services we depend on (Vapi, Stripe, your mobile network), or by force majeure.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by UK law.

Your indemnity to us

You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, or expense arising from how you use Pickup — for example, if a customer of yours brings a claim against us because of the work you did (or didn't do) after a lead Pickup captured.

Changes to these terms or the service

We may update these terms or the service from time to time. For material changes (price increases, big feature removals, anything that'd affect your decision to use Pickup), we'll email you at least 30 days in advance. Smaller wording tweaks we'll just update on this page.

If you don't agree with a material change, your remedy is to cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use Pickup after a change means you accept it.

Termination

You can terminate any time by cancelling your subscription.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you seriously breach these terms — especially the Acceptable Use section — or if you fail to pay. Where reasonable we'll flag the problem and give you a chance to put it right first.

If we terminate without cause (e.g. we decide to wind down the service), we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and pro-rate any prepaid fees.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute that can't be settled by talking to us first will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.

Before going to court, please email us at hello@pickup.business — we'd much rather sort it out directly.
